I am so proud of myself for making this Chutney, the second time I made it, I was confident with it. It is very well behaved can be used as a jam and with savoury foods. It looks every bit as good as the picture, I stir it in curries and stews and use it on the side with cold meats. With four apple trees in my garden, it it will be a chutney I make every year.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments!

Kathy- I used just normal Gala eating apples but you can use any kind of apple you like, just remember to adjust the sugar according to the sourness or sweetness of the apple :)

And a little suggestion for diabetics out there... I have an idea whereby you can make this without sugar although I am not certain it works and cannot give you an exact recipe until I try it out. I suppose that if you cooked the apples down with a little water and no sugar. Then added fruit sugar or sweetner, spices and a little agar-agar you would achieve a similar end product to this. However I would have to try this out first just to make sure it works. I'll get back to you on this one!

Malar- I'll come and have a look asap :)

Thank you so much for all of these wonderful responses! I hope you enjot making this!
